Just a note to say thank you very much Mel Goldstein, this article came out on Medscape....and I thought...wow..Mr. Goldstein handled my case like an artist, like a concert pianist. A patient complained that I did not spend enough time with them. I had seen this patient for several visits On the annual wellness exam, I reviewed everything...from a preventive flow sheet check list(maybe I missed discussing advance directive) I addressed several "sick" visits complaints as well as the comprehensive medline screening guidelines. On a followup, I gave further treatment and patient education. On a new "sick" visit, the patient came in from a followup ER visit, needed a specialty consult, I gave the referral, the patient added a "by the way" one more complaint. I addressed it, gave the medication and a patient education handout, the spouse came in afterwards and wanted to review the entire visit, I explained everything was done and I needed to keep moving, my nurse was available, this became the complaint sent to the board, I googled what to do and sought the advise of the attorney given through the Bar. Wow, Mel Goldstein was so down to earth, he validated my concerns, explained how the board reviews cases, I paid him, it was very reasonable, I wish I had extra money to pay more, the least I can do is write an excellent review for an excellent attorney, thank you...by the way the complaint was dismissed thank you thank you

To Whom it May Concern / Specifically State Employees:

This is a totally unsolicited letter to advise you that if you need an attorney regarding problems with your employment with the State of Georgia such as retaliation for filing grievance, termination or disciplinary action that you feel / know was not in good faith, or most any other type of adverse action against you then I would recommend Mr. Mel Goldstein. My only mistake was not retaining him earlier in the process and wasting money on an attorney in my area who had very limited experience in "dealings" with the state. Mr. Goldstein can tell you his qualifications and having "checked" around, I can only assure you that his legal rates are about the same as the attorneys that have little experience in this legal area. I was an employee for the State Department of Corrections for 29 years (6 months) credit and with 26 1/2 actual years in the same office as office manager. I am not receiving any fees or consideration whatsoever for making referrals etc. to Mr. Goldstein. I would just not like to see any employee not receive the protection given by law and policies of the different state agencies. As you may well know since 1996 most employees have been hired in an unclassified capacity (at pleasure of the agency); however, there are still some rights that you have. Those hired before 1996 are in a classified position and you are still protected by the state merit system. If for any reason you would like to check into my background feel free to do so. I was the manager of the Calhoun Probation Office from January, 1975 until March, 2000 when I was transferred to our main office in Cartersville until I was dismissed 9/1/00. Fortunately, I had planned to retire with 30 years credit (3/01) anyway. You can ask any Chief in Ga. (or one that has retired in recent years) especially outside of Atlanta, which only merged with the state in the late 80s or early 90s about me or call any Chief in the state, but especially Chiefs or P.O 111s or Parole Chiefs in Northwest Ga. Rome, Dalton, Lafayette, Cedartown, Newman, Carrollton, etc. or any Probation Officer who has been employed for more than 10 years as to my honesty or character and then feel free to call me if you like at ___-___-____ if you have any questions. I was very satisfied with the resolution that Mr. Goldstein made with the state on my behalf the morning of the hearing when I had numerous witnesses on my behalf. Had I officially retained him earlier, Mr. Goldstein would have gotten the same "resolution" much sooner and no hearing would ever have had to have been set up and my legal fees would have been less.
